DILAN lives on: GENCI guest talks at SiC 2026 in Bucharest

The Bucharest University of Economic Studies hosted the 14th International Conference Synergies in Communication (29–30 October 2026). Oana Maria Carciu and Rosana Villares took part as guest speakers in the section “Interdependences: Academic and Digital Literacies in the New Educational and Research Environment. The Quality Dimension”, in collaboration with Prof. Laura Mureșan. Their two talks showed how internationalisation, and the outcomes of the Erasmus+ project DILAN, remain active after the project ended in 2025.

In her talk, “From Capacity Building to Citizen Engagement: Scaling Up Digital Science Communication”, Oana Maria Carciu looked at how DILAN outputs and expertise can reach society beyond the academic community. She presented a citizen science proposal that transfers the project’s resources to secondary education. In it, high school students learn to create their own science videos, moving from researcher training to citizen engagement with science.

Rosana Villares presented “Digital science communication training for early-career researchers: The integration of the Erasmus+ project DILAN at the University of Zaragoza”. Her talk examined what happens to an Erasmus+ project resources once a project ends. Building on DILAN outputs, in particular the short course, she explained how the course is now being adapted for master’s and doctoral students at the BIFI research institute through the University of Zaragoza teaching innovation project SciCommHub.eu (PIIDUZ 2026–2027).
