During the month of September 2026, the research project GENNET has been presented in national and international academic conferences: ESSE 2026 and BAAL 2026.

Professor Pérez-Llantada attended the 2026 European Society for the Study of English Conference held at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, 31 August – 4 September. In this international forum, she delivered a presentation on “Integrating genre theory and digital literacy in ESP pedagogy: A case study for early career researchers”. This presentation describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a genre-based blended ESP course that teaches PhD students how to adapt traditional research into digital media formats. Its ultimate goal is to enhance researchers’ Open Science communication skills and advocate for integrating digital literacy into modern ESP pedagogy.
At the same time, Dr. Oana Carciu attended the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) 59th Annual Conference, taking place in Aston University, Birmingham, UK, 1-3 September 2026. Her conference paper, entitled “Information load in a network of research genres: How connected genres reroute linguistic and communicative resources” examined how scientific information load is redistributed across genre networks, specifically comparing research articles, abstracts, and plain language summaries in biomedical sciences. Through linguistic complexity metrics, it shows how plain language summaries lower cognitive load for lay audiences while maintaining scientific credibility within digital communication ecosystems.
