Carmen Pérez-Llantada is Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Zaragoza. She is currently the Principal Investigator (PI-1) of the GENNET project, a research initiative investigating the networked nature of digital scientific communication. Her primary expertise lies at the intersection of applied linguistics, genre theory and discourse studies. Central to her work is the application of complexity constructs—specifically non-linearity, adaptability, coevolution, and self-organization—to empirically demonstrate how genre interactions function in digital media environments. These theoretical advancements are coupled with innovative methodological developments in case study research designs, offering a roadmap for expanding the field of English for Research Publication Purposes (ERPP). Ultimately, her work bridges the gap between theory and practice by proposing new models for genre-based pedagogies and the training of researchers, empowering them to strategically compose digital genre networks to maximize the visibility and impact of their scientific contributions.

Her scholarship is featured in leading international journals and by premier academic publishers such as Cambridge University Press, Routledge, and Wiley. Her most recent publications examine the complex dynamics of interrelated genres within digital ecosystems and the gendered dimensions of public science communication online.
